ROCKIN REDS END OUTSTANDING SEASON
AUG 15 - "Gotcha!" was the key word to describe the summer softball season for the Kerman Rockin Reds. Hard work, team effort, and a lot of heart was all they needed to take down just about every team they faced this summer. The 16 and under softball team is comprised of 12 to 16 year old players from the local community. The girls played on the high school varsity, junior varsity and the middle school softball teams during the regular season then joined up for the summer to comprise a very talented summer travel team. The Reds played in four tournaments this summer and one summer recreation league. They took a 2nd at the Fresno Rage tournament, 3rd at the National Qualifying tournament in Santa Maria, 1st in the Kingsburg tournament, and 1st in the Clovis summer "rec" league. These were all "B" level tournaments, which is what the team is registered as. They also decided to push their skills and play "up" in an "A" tournament in Clovis and found that another 1st place trophy made its way into their hands. Their final stats for the season were: 31 wins, 5 losses, and I tie. The team consists of 13 players. They will only be losing two girls for next summer's team which means another promising season ahead. The team qualified for the National tournament this summer, but because of time and financial constraints (3 weeks to prepare and fundraiser for a $5,000 to $10,000 trip) the team did not proceed on. This was an exciting prospect for the team, as the Rockin Reds have never advanced to a National tournament. So, now the team is preparing to focus on raising funds for next year's Nationals. They believe that with the Kerman community's help they can raise the $8,000 necessary to get them to Wyoming next July. Many thanks go out to the Rockin Reds coaches: Rudy Bustamante, Will Nord, Lupe Ortiz, Brian Weber, Hector Aguilar, Courtney Weber and Nicole Palacios. Also, thanks to the community for its past, present, and future support. We're looking forward to putting KERMAN on the map in WYOMING!!!

The Kerman Rockin’ Reds’ 16 and under team put themselves to the challenge and played "up" in the Buchanan "A" tournament July 7-8 taking first place.
With a rocky start on Saturday morning losing to the Clovis Rockets, then beating Central Valley Storm, and losing to Fresno Heat, they battled their way back to the top on Sunday after defeating the Atwater Outlaws in extra innings, upsetting the undefeated Clovis Rockets, and defeating Central Valley Storm again to take first place.
The Rockin’ Reds played hard and with determination despite the heat, and it paid off. The Rockin Reds entered their final tournament in Kingsburg, July 14-15, and continue to play in the Thursday night Buchanan league through July 26.
