Recent Deaths

Dora Medina Guerrero, 44, of Tranquillity, died on Oct. 5, 2008. She was a health care provider for six years. Funeral service was Oct. 13, at 10 am, at Plam Memorial Kerman Chapel.

RUDY HENRY COTA, 47, of Kermabn, died on Sept. 18, 2008.  He was a truck driver for 15 years.  Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 25, at 9:30 am in the Kerman Pentecostal Tabernacle. 

 

JACK L. HURT, 80, of Kerman, died on Sept. 14, 2008.  He had been a manager for Fresno Tractor Parts for 30 years.  Services were scheduled for Sept. 17, at 2 pm in Fresno Memorial Gardens. 

 

MARY ELIZABETH ALLEN, 82, of Kerman, died on Sept. 13, 2008. She was a retired custodian for Kerman Unified School District for 14 years.  Services were scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18, at 10 am in Palm Memorial Kerman Chapel. 

 

DAVID S. SOLIZ, 88, of Kerman, died on Sept. 11, 2008.  He was a farm laborer for 60 years.  Mass was scheduled for St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kerman, at 10 am Friday, Sept. 19. 

 

YVONNE AGUILERA, 18, of Five Pointes, died on Sept. 10, 2008.  She was a student at a beauty college.  Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kerman.

 

JOSE ALFREDO PEREZ,  25, a resident of Firebaugh for 13 years, died on Aug. 18, 2008.  Visitation was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26, at St. Joseph Church in Firebaugh, beginning at 5 pm, with the Rosary at 7 pm.  Funeral services were scheduled for Aug. 27, at 10 am in the church, with burial following in Dos Palos District Cemetery.

 

TEOFILA PEREZ, 66, of Firebaugh, died on Aug. 9, 2008.  She was a homemaker.

 

JEANNETTE TRAYLOR   of Firebaugh, died on August 5, 2008.  Services were scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 pm in the Firebaugh United Methodist Church. 

 

GERALD WAYNE MOORE,  67, of Firebaugh, died July 24, 2008.   A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 pm in St. Joseph Church in Firebaugh.

 

MARY ALICE LOPEZ, 55, of San Joaquin, died on July 30, 2008.  She was a Head Start teacher in San Joaquin for 25 years.  The Rosary was scheduled for 7 pm Thursday, Aug. 7, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church.  Mass was scheduled for 10 am Friday, Aug. 8, at the church. 

 

RENE ACOSTA Sr., 50, of Firebaugh, died on July 29, 2008.  He had been a resident of the city for 41 years.  Mass was scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 10 am in St. Joseph Church in Firebaugh, with burial following at Dos Palos District Cemetery.

 

MANUEL SAGARIBALLA, 83, of Kerman, died on July 23, 2008.  He had been a Kerman area farmer for 70 years.  Visitation and Mass were secheduled for Tuesday, July 29, at 5 p.m. in St. Patrick's Church.  Mass was scheduled for Wednesday, at 10 am, in the church.

 

EDWARD "Ed" KEMP, 81, of Fresno, died on Friday, July 18, 2008.  He was a former 25-year resident of Firebaugh.  He was a WWII veteran, and a retired postmaster, having worked in Madera and Firebaugh. Graveside services were scheduled for Saturday, July 26, at  9am at Arbor Vitae Cemetery in Madera.

 

RAY BROWN, 78, of Kerman, died on July 10, 2008.  He was an agricultural worker for 50 years.   Graveside services were scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, at 10 am, in Golden Sunset Memorial Park.

 

CRUZ NEGRETE, 25, of Tranquillity, died on July 7, 2008.  He was an auto mechanic for six years. Visitation and Rosary were set to begin at 5 pm, July 17, and Mass was scheduled for 10am, in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in San Joaquin.

 

HERBERT FRANKLIN ALLEN Sr., 72, died on July 4, 2008, in Fresno.  He was a resident of Chowchilla for nine years, and a former resident of Firebaugh.  Funeral services with military honors were scheduled for Thursday, July 10, at 12:30 pm at the San Joaquin Natinal Cemetery, in Gustine.

 

MARIE M. STEWART, of Firebaugh, died on July 1, 2008. Graveside services were scheduled for Monday, July 7, at 10 am in Fresno Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be sent to Madera Community Hospital, 1250 E. Almond Ave., Madera, CA 93637, or to a favorite charity. 

 

NORWOOD GRAHAM, 88, of Kerman, died on June 23, 2008.  He was superintendent for a cotton gin for Anderson and Clayton, for 37 years.  Funeral services were set for 10 am, June 27, at Palm Memorial Kerman Chapel.  Visitation 5 to 7 pm, June 26, in the champel. 

LOIS MARTIN, 71, of Kerman, died on June 18, 2006.  She was a home maker.  Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, at 10 am in the Palm Memorial Kerman Chapel.  Visitation:  Monday, 5 to 7 pm, in the chapel. 

LEOPOLD LARA, 84, of Kerman, died June 10, 2008.  He was a cotton farmer.  The rosary was scheduled for 7 pm Wednesday and Mass for 10 am Thursday at St. Patrick's Church. 

HOWARD POWELL,  84, a Firebaugh resident for 54 years, died on June 9, 2008 in Fresno.  Graveside service is scheduled for Monday, June 16, at 1:30 pm in the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine.  Mass will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 7 pm, at St. Joseph Church in Firebaugh.

JOVITA NUNEZ ALVAREZ, 50, of Firebaugh, died on May 27, 2008.  She was a farmworker.  Rosary and Mass were scheduled for 9:30 am, June 4, at St. Joseph's Church. 

HAROLD EDWARD SCHAEFER, 89, of Caruthers, died on June 1, 2008.  He was a grape farmer.  Cryptside services are scheduled for Thursday, June 5, at 10 am in Fresno Memorial Gardents.

ESTELA CARDENAS CEJA, 82, of San Joaquin, died on May 27, 2008.  She was a homemaker.  Visitation will be 5 to 9 pm, May 29, At St. Vincent de Paul Church.  Rosary will be at 7 pm in the church. 

SHERMAN LOWE ALLEN, 87, died on May 16, 2008 in Madera.  Formerly of Upper Lake, he had been a resident of Firebaugh for two years.  Services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 10 am in the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine, with burial following.

JOSEPH C. CLEMENT, 95, of Kerman, died on May 15, 2008.  He was a bee keeper for 35 years.  Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, from 4 to 7 pm at Palm Memorial Kerman Chapel.  Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 22, at 10 am in the Free Will Baptist Church.
