Seniors and Classmates Celebrate a Sober Graduation Night

On Friday, June 1, Kerman High School Graduates celebrated, along with guests and junior classmates totaling 350 students, at an all night Sober Grad Party. The Kerman High School campus was transformed into "Hollywood Nights" with Palm Trees, the Hollywood Hills, a glow-in-the-dark lounge, Movie Back lot and the Mann’s Chinese Theater.

VIP Limousines from Star One Limo graced the front entrance. Students arrived to walk the red carpet down the Hollywood Walk of Fame where a gold star framed each graduating senior’s name. Each student was greeted by flashing lights from the "Paparazzi."

Entertainment provided by Jeff Munro with Bulldog Entertainment included a glow-in-the-dark lounge with pool tables, air hockey and big screen music videos. The "Movie Back Lot" hosted a karaoke stage with a large video screen; video games such as "Guitar Hero" and "Dance, Dance Revolution" which was also on a big screen; and interactive games such as a boxing ring, velcro wall, mechanical bronco bull and surf rider. The gym was transformed into the Mann’s Chinese Theater where decorations highlighted a scene from the senior’s past homecoming floats: "Now Playing - Star Wars, Phantom of the Opera, Jumanji and Hocus Pocus." The theater also included a Casino with a Cash Cube and a DJ with a big screen video.

During the evening the students enjoyed live performances with a Lion Dance (Chinese Dragon), an appearance from "Elvis Presley", and a stunt show with Spiderman and the Green Goblin. They were also showered with balloons and confetti launchers during the dance.Food was also provided for the evening which included homemade burritos, pizzas from Round Table & Me N Eds, Subway Sandwiches, and Sunshine Donuts. Some beverages were donated by Pepsi, Kraft Foods and Kerman Telephone Co.

Parents prepared fruit smoothies, hot and iced cappuccinos, churros and fresh popcorn. The evening wound down with a senior video and a senior raffle prize drawing. The winners of the raffle prizes were as follows: Kevin Blair - $200 Gift Certificate to Herb Bauer’s Sports; Marina Cubillos – Coach Purse; Angie Rodriguez – Video Ipod; Jorge Martinez – Digital Camera & Printer; Jose Rojas – 13" LCD TV with DVD Player; and Albert Tamayo – 20" LCD/HDTV.Each senior left with a gift bag containing coupons from McDonalds, Taco Bell, Movie Gallery and chocolate covered raisins from Sun Empire Foods. The gift bags also contained a keepsake blanket with an embroidered lion and a keepsake DVD edited by a fellow classmate, Amanda Gonzalez.
