MENDOTA - Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims announced last week the arrest of a 16 year old juvenile in connection with a burglary that occurred in Mendota.
On July 15 at approximately 6:20 am, deputies responded to a residence located in the 900 block of Quince St. in Mendota regarding a burglary in progress call. Two juveniles had apparently broken into the residence and were seen removing items of property. The juveniles then transported the stolen items to another residence nearby.
Upon arrival, numerous witnesses to the burglary directed deputies to a residence located in the 1700 block of Jennings St. where one of the juveniles lived. As deputies arrived, one of the juveniles was seen running out of the back of the residence. After a brief search, the juvenile was located hiding on the roof of the residence.
Further investigation by deputies recovered the stolen property in the juvenile’s bedroom.
The juvenile was arrested on charges of burglary and later transported to the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center for booking.
The investigation is ongoing and the second juvenile is being sought.
