Open House Held for Kearney Palms Senior Apartments

KERMAN, May 18 - The Kearney Palms Senior Apartment complex hosted an open house today, to show off the buildings and features of the new housing area, built on about six acres on Kearney Boulevard, three blocks east of the heart of downtown Kerman
Kearney Palms Senior Apartments includes 81- apartment units with a community room and swimming pool center in the middle of ten residential, single story buildings. The pool is relatively shallow and is designed to accommodate water aerobic classes and various other senior oriented swimming activities.
Residents of will qualify to lease apartment units based on their level of housing need and income. The apartments offer residents a full kitchen with refrigerators, oven, stovetop and dishwasher. The Apartment project consists of 64 one-bedroom units at 650 square feet and 17 two-bedroom apartments at 775 square feet. Each unit has a patio area. The landscaping of the project included the replanting of existing palm trees that currently face Kearney Boulevard and the addition of 12 new palm trees along the street to continue the palm lined tradition of Kearney Boulevard. Ample parking for both residents and visitors is provided with 117 spaces which includes 82 covered spaces.
The funding for the $9 million project came from a mixture of state, county and federal loans and tax exempt bonds, with the city of Kerman helping out by waiving local building fees.
Speaking at the grand opening were Kerman Mayor Ken Moore and Fresno County Supervisor Phil Larson, as well as state and federal representatives and members of the complex operating partnership and the construction company.
